Historical Significance.
Ganja, which is the second largest city of Azerbaijan and the fourth largest one in the Transcaucasus, is located at the north-eastern foot of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, in one of the most beautiful corners of the country. If Baku is the heart of Azerbaijan, then Ganja - a city famous as birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi and the first capital of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) is its soul.
Sightseeings
- Ganja’s Bottle House. The most unusual building in Ganja is the Bottle House, a two-story building completed in 1967 by Ibrahim Jafarov as a shrine to his brother who went missing during World War II. The walls are adorned with 48,000 bottles of different sizes and colours. During the construction of the building, colored stones brought from the Russian city of Sochi were used.
- Heydar Aliyev Park. One of the symbols of modern Ganja, is a unique place where you can experience a variety of activities. The park, covering an area of 450 hectares, offers interesting entertainment for everyone from children to adults
- The Caravansarai. Was the third in the ensemble of Sheikh Bahauddin. The caravanserai building is a two-storey complex, which includes 15 halls and 54 rooms.
- Mausoleum of Nizami Ganjavi. Located at the entrance to Ganja and is a cult place of visiting poets. It is a monumental cylindrical structure made of red granite. Nizami’s name was carved in gold just above the entrance.
- The Mausoleum of Imamzadeh. The 19th-century mausoleum of Imamzadeh is located a few kilometers from the center of Ganja.
